In Ergonomic Assessment consists of overview of a workstation in relation to the work tasks performed. The ergonomist will determine how to optimize the workstation design in order to optimize performance and minimize discomfort. Changes may include adjustments to work habits or body position, modifying current layout and/or equipment, and possibly the purchase of new equipment.
As appropriate, the ergonomist will provide education on ideal posture as well as prescribe stretches to alleviate common strains from office and computer work. These will assist with decreasing the risk of musculoskeletal injuries and re-injury (including repetitive strain) and improve the worker’s physical comfort and productivity. A written report includes a list of the risk factors identified, and the recommended changes to minimize or alleviate these factors.
